Cotton
Hound

female, 10 years, 40 lbs.

Spayed, Current on shots, Current on heartworm prevention, Housebroken

Cotton was turned in by a hunter who didn’t find her useful anymore because of her failing eyesight. The hunter asked the vet to euthanize her but that caring vet called ART to help because Cotton has a lot of life left in her and she is sweet, sweet, sweet! She is playful and affectionate and is enjoying the good life in her foster home. Cotton is crate trained and the perfect housedog for someone who wants a low maintenance family member. Although an older girl, we just know there is a family out there who will allow Cotton to live out her remaining years in the comfort of a loving home! If you are interested, please contact Susan Corbitt at caring4paws@cox.net or call 404 6032.

Scout
Hound

male, 10 years, 50 lbs.

Neutered, Current on shots, Current on heartworm prevention, Housebroken

Scout was found as an emaciated stray – clearly a once-hunting dog who has had a hard life and lost his way. He is a gentleman – a happy boy who loves nothing more than a head scratch and a soft bed on which to sleep. It has been a pleasure to watch Scout evolve from an emotionally shut-down creature into a dog who responds to affection and loves toys! Scout has been diagnosed with early stage kidney disease – perhaps caused by malnutrition – but with the proper meds he has some good time left on this earth and he wishes for nothing more than a loving household in which to live out his life. He is a beautiful, sweet boy! If you are interested, please contact Susan Corbitt at caring4paws@cox.net or call 404-6032.

Winnie
Mix - please see description

female, 7, 45 lbs.

Spayed, Current on shots, Current on heartworm prevention, Housebroken

Meet Winnie. She is a 7yr old who is apparently, as the result of DNA testing a little mix of this and a little mix of that, with Italian Greyhound being the predominant breed (25%). She weighs 45lbs. Winnie is current on all vaccines, spayed, heartworm neg and on preventative, as well as, flea/tick preventative. She is housebroken, cratetrained, microchipped. And Winnie is a dream dog. She is one of the easy fosters according to her foster Mom. You see, Winnie not only gets along with other dogs, she does well with cats and even rabbits. All of these pets were in her former home. While in rescue she spends a couple of days a week at doggy day care, happily playing until her foster Mom comes to get her. Winnie knows some of her basic commands very well, as in sit, down, come and best of all she has recall. This means if Winnie is running full speed you call her and she will instantly come back. She is a loving, affectionate, happy dog who according to her vet, and we agree, is very eager to please. She has a gorgeous coat, to pet her is like rubbing velvet. Winnie originally came to rescue when she was 4 days old. We adopted her to her former home at 91/2 weeks old. This is where she has been living a great life. Because of economic strain, Winnie's family after 7 yrs, couldn't care for her any longer. She had the good life of a privileged dog. We have promised Winnie's family that we would find her another perfect home. If you are interested in learning more about this great dog, who will easily fit into her next home, please contact Frankstersmom@aol.com

George
Hound mix

male, 4 years, 58 lbs.

Neutered, Current on shots, Current on heartworm prevention, Housebroken

George's family of four years lost their home and surrendered their pet to ART. George missed his family and was quite unsettled for sometime. He had to be moved from one foster home to another until we found the perfect set up for him. George loves a big SECURE back yard with a 6 foot fence. He likes to have access to the yard throughout the day. George would like a social canine buddy but not too many. One sweet, fun female would be a real plus. He gets along with all people. However he would be too tempted to run out the front door with children coming and going. He needs someone with hound experience who would understand his strong desire for snacking and roaming. In the present foster home George is doing Great!!!. (he has the girl and the yard to make him smile) He is housebroken, not destructive and walks well on the leash.

Max
Shepherd Mix

male, 7 years, 50 lbs.

Neutered, Current on shots, Current on heartworm prevention, Housebroken

This handsome guy is looking for someone who has plenty of love togive and the energy to match his playful personality. Don’t let theage fool ya…Max thinks he’s still a pup! Max had been in the care ofhis previous owners since he was a puppy, but due to their healthissues they could no longer provide for him. He gets along great withall types of dogs and thinks playtime with his canine buddies shouldlast all day. He loves human companionship and is a fast learner, butalso has an independent quality to his personality, and for thatreason would do better in a home with experienced dog owners. He getsnervous and anxious in new situations, and needs a family who iswilling to put some time into building up trust with him at first.Once you gain his trust and respect you have a friend for life as Maxbecomes very attached to “his people”. He is not destructive andknows basic house manners but tends to be a little impatient (he justhates having to wait for things!). He has great leash manners and isa fabulous running and biking buddy, however; he is still a work inprogress when it comes to bunnies and squirrels…he just loves to chasethem! He needs a 6-ft fenced in yard to keep his curiosity fromgetting him into trouble. Max would thrive with a family who canprovide structure and put some time into fine-tuning his obedience. If you are a dog-savvy family looking for a rewarding and loving dog -contact us about Max!
